Industrial Symbiosis workshop held by IFKA

As part of the TRIS (Transition regions towards Industrial Symbiosis) project IFKA Green Economy Unit organized and held a workshop for regional and local industries about the circular economy and industrial symbiosis concept.


IFKA organized and held a workshop for regional and local SMEs with the cooperation of a regional cluster, ArchEnerg. ArchEnerg is a Szeged based cluster, established in 2007 with the aim of creating an economic and social model based on renewable energy sources and energy efficiency.

During the workshop Maria Farkas, from IFKA introduced the concept of circular economy and industrial symbiosis, the principles of the theory and some Hungarian and international good practices. Maria explained a supportive tool which can introduce the circularity into the daily practice through the ISO 140001 EMS. We had a long and active Q&A section, which demonstrated a great interest of the audience.

GREENIN project has just started with the participation of IFKA

The aim of the project is to promote green public procurement for innovation with a sustainable and environmental approach. It is financed by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Programme. The main objective will be realized through the collaboration of innovation agencies from Hungary (IFKA), Portugal (National Laboratory of Energy and Geology of Portugal LNEG) and Spain (Extremadura).

International Workshop of Pioneers program was held on 31st October 2018 in Edinburgh, where 4 pioneer was represented Hungary. The event focused on the learning process required for system innovation and the necessary „mindset” for this.
