Joining to the European Union formed a significant challenge to the small and medium sized companies in Hungary and in the Carpathian basin. They have to comply with the ever-changing legislative environment, and in the same time to compete with experienced companies which operate solidly on the EU market. SMEs operations and management systems need innovative, easy-to-use tools to initiate the introduction of more sophisticated systems. In order to obtain information and the existing financial sources, it is necessary that SMEs get expert assistance and support. In case Transylvanian companies will not be able to adapt to these changes and will not employ sophisticated methods, will marginalisate on the EU market, and many of them might cease.

In the Methods-TRANS-Syl project the training of SMEs achieved by IFKA through a 10-station road show, in which IFKA provided 2-day courses on the topics of EU proposal writing, project initiation, and the daily application of logistics and quality management.

The courses were organized with the help of the local Chambers of Commerce and Industry in the following locations: Timisoara, Arad, Oradea, Bistrita, Cluj-Napoca, Satu Mare, Baia Mare, Miercurea Ciuc, Targu Mures.

As an addition to the free courses, IFKA compiled a 300-page course material, which we distributed among the participants in printed and electronic versions; besides, nearly 2000 CDs were posted to Transylvanian SMEs who could not participate on the event.

As a closure of the project a conference will be held at Cluj-Napoca on 22 September 2009. The proramme and the invitation of the conference can be downloaded from here >>
